Native to the Americas, this bird species constitutes the Trochilidae family. These tiny creatures are known to produce a humming sound as a byproduct of their rapid wing flap, ranging from 12-80 beats per second, thus creating the nickname hummingbird.
Moving in a continuous infinity shape, hummingbirds fly with a precise pattern that allows for full range of motion that appears effortless. In addition to being able to fly backwards, they can conserve energy by slowing down their metabolic rate to 1/15th from normal in a form of hibernation. For being such a small and delicate creature, these birds possess a miraculous amount of power.
As a symbol, the hummingbird is a spirit animal totem that represents adaptability, independence, joy, and resiliency. The association with these traits stems from possessing unique physical gifts that set them apart from other species. The presence of this totem is said to encourage an optimistic and positive outlook while supporting strength and perseverance.
We chose the hummingbird as a representation of how exceptional we believe women are. Power comes in many shapes and forms, but females possess the capacity to lead and inspire with effortless grace. Women are rising in positions of power after decades of fighting for rights, and we are supporting this movement by celebrating the unique abilities that only women can offer.
